Breakfast in your villa
Breafast in your vacation villa; what could be nicer than the first meal of the day by the pool? And where else could you take breakfast in your jammies (or bikini after a refreshing swim?
First of all, your preparations will start the day before (unless someone in your group is not anly an early riser and also would not mind a crack of dawn supermarket run)
Start with the juice; orange juice is the obvious choice in Florida but chilldren often prefer the softer taste of apple juice. Prune juice or V. 8. for more sophisticated palates.
That done you hit the cereal aisle and there is a choice of seemimgly hundreds. Mentally check if you have any milk in the fridge for this course and remember you are catering for your large American fridge rather than the mini variety found in European rentals)
If you have not tried granola before this is a good time to sample this tasty blend of heathy ingredients.
Now, here is an idea; you can buy a perfectly good pancake mix that will make a wobbling pile of American pancakes. Do not forget the maple syrup to go with the pancakes and make sure it is real maple syrup and not maple flavour (yuk)
I suppose we have to get in some ingredients for a fried breakfast; now here is a compromise. American bacon is fattier that we are used to in England and needs to be crisply grilled. Eggs, just like ours (no problem) Baked beans are much sweeter but still a nice change and the sausages are trial and error.
You will need some bread to make toast; avoid the sliced bread and go for Cuban or Italian. Now some jam (rather confusingly in the aisle marked ' jelly' )
Tea or coffee? If it is tea then now is the time to hit the aisle with U. K foods and pay an arm and a leg for your P. G. tips. Coffee, just grab a brand that appeals to you. There will be a coffee maker in your villa but you will need filters.
There are often yogurts for sale in the store so grab a handfull of these for a sweet ending.
Having suitably fortified yourself on the deck of your home it is time to fling the washing up in the dishwasher and head for the parks.
After your feast you will probably not feel like snacking all day and so besides your lovely, leisurely holiday breakfast you will save time and dollars.
