The California Grill is located on the 15th floor of the Contemporary Resort Hotel, it has breathtaking views of Cinderella’s castle and the Magic Kingdom.
There is an observation deck to view the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and this is exclusively for the use of the restaurants guests.
When we visited they could only accommodate parties of up to four guests at the window tables, but if your party is four or less it is definitely worth arriving fifteen minutes before your reservation time and asking for one of these tables, as if you don’t want to watch the fireworks from the observation deck you will have a fabulous view from the window as they dim the lights and pipe in the music.
Our server was fantastic, probably the best we’ve ever had anywhere in the World – she was friendly, attentive and had an amazing memory, she took all our drinks orders without writing anything down, then did the same with the food order, there were five of us dining and we all ate and drank something different, yet she forgot nothing! Everything was 100% correct! We were truly impressed!
Every dish on the menu has a suggested wine pairing and there is an extensive by-the-glass wine program, allowing you the opportunity to match a wine of your choice with any selection on the menu.
For our table we shared two of the delicious flatbreads, and decided that we really wanted to try a dessert (normally we’re too full!) so skipped the first course and went straight to the main course, we all had something different but every dish was beautifully presented and totally delicious.
Then it was time to watch the fireworks, my brother and husband decided to stay inside with the baby and watch through the window, while I accompanied my sister-in-law and son to the observation deck (NB If you want to watch from the deck take something warm to wear, it is very high up and incredibly breezy!) After five minutes my sister-in-law was too cold and went back inside, but it was such a spectacular sight that my son and I “toughed” it out!
Then it was time for dessert, I had the Crème Brulee, one of my all time favourites, and was not disappointed.
Note: Since California Grill uses the freshest foods possible, the menu changes weekly.
