The Peabody Hotel is situated on International Drive – and is probably best known for the ducks………. ! ! !

If you think that sounds bizarre – it is absolutely true!

There are ducks that ‘live’ in the hotel and wander through the foyer and splash around in the fountain there. They are quite an attraction and very well known! At certain times of day they parade through the foyer in a long line!

Another excellent reason to visit the Peabody though is for the champagne brunch. This takes place on every Sunday but there is a special one for occasions and holidays, being Easter, Mothers’ Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Brunch is available from 11am to 4pm and although the hotel say that reservations aren’t necessary for normal Sundays, it would be important to book in advance for holiday occasions.

We dined at the Peabody at Thanksgiving 2006 and had a wonderful time! There was a party of eight of us so we organised a taxi to take and collect us so that we could all take advantage of the champagne! Champagne is served throughout the meal – and as fast as you can drink it your glass is topped up! Certainly makes the occasion feel extra special.

The hotel was beautifully decorated with Thanksgiving style decorations, including helium balloons on our tables! The food was amazing and the presentation superb! We were spoilt for choice! It is an eat as much as you like buffet and you can go up as many times as you like! There were salads, pastas, fish (including the most gorgeous prawns! ), various meats such as beef, lamb and of course the traditional Thanksgiving turkey! To compliment, an assortment of vegetables and of course potatoes. For the non meat eaters there are vegetarian options. An array of delicious deserts were there to tempt everyone and of course fresh fruit if you really can’t manage any rich deserts!

We didn’t at any time feel we were being hurried and we were able to sit at our table for as long as we wanted! I think it would be fair to say that we were there for about three hours! The waiting staff were very attentive.

The Peabody hotel is well worth adding to your list of ‘must dos’ if you are in Florida for one of the special occasions. If you have your own special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday why not take advantage of the Sunday brunch to help you celebrate? It will be an occasion you will remember for a long time!
