Character Dining at 1900 Park Fare, Grand Floridian Resort
Characters that we saw:
Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter, Alice, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Minnie & Tigger.
A slightly strange combination, but all worked well.
Oh! My! God! I just thought the food was excellent at this restaurant. The server dishes were continually checked and replenished, and the chef's freshly-made omelettes are absolutely heavenly. There were so many options to choose from, and it was ALL so beautifully laid out, it was so difficult to choose what to have. I just cannot imagine that anyone would not be fully catered for here. I am always a little suspicious of any “Buffet” meals, but as I am finding out, there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about when Disney do buffet!! Clearly, an extremely popular venue, we had to book 2 months in advance to get the day we wanted on our Easter trip a few years back!
One of my very best dining experiences in Disney and Orlando generally I think? We had gone for this one purely to have a character meal at the time, but also to combine a couple of other elements. We thought a buffet style would ensure that there would be something for everyone in our “fussy eating group”, and the fact that it was at the Grand Floridian resort, just added to the “Wow” factor for me, especially as afterwards we spent some time wandering around the resort to walk our wonderful breakfast off!!
It goes without saying, that at the time my daughter, who was only about 6 years old, was looking forward to meeting the characters, getting a nice picture with them and the essential autograph without having to hunt them down or stand in line! But for me, it was about the location, and for my husband, it was about the food i.e. What was there he would eat!
The ambience of this place is really enchanting, Mary was fantastic, as was the Mad Hatter, whom at the time surprised my daughter that he was even there, (him not really being a MAIN character you understand?) The character interaction was excellent, especially the Mad Hatter and Alice. We went for the first seating and had no problem meeting the characters or getting food. Of course, the service is pure Disney! The early seating suited us, as we were also on the doorstep of the Magic Kingdom, where we planned to spend the rest of our day.
The Grand Floridian is so elegant and once you have had the breakfast of a lifetime, I would urge you to take a stroll round! This is truly a lovely resort, and you can take some wonderful holiday snaps here, some of course with the Magic Kingdom in the back drop! I liked this one rather a lot, in case you hadn’t guessed?
Now, I am hungry just thinking about the place ..…but if you dine here…you won’t be!
