Cocoa Beach Pier.
We have spent many happy hours on Cocoa Beach pier and I thought I would tell you a little about it to whet your appetite. Cocoa Beach is the closest beach to Orlando.
The pier was originally constructed in 1962 and in those days you could drive your car right onto the pier.
21 years later there was a refurb that cost in the region of two million dollars and at the same time the pier was extended to reach 80 feet.
Nowadays there are 5 restaurants and bars, an ice cream parlour and 2 shops for you to enjoy and of course wonderful fishing opportunities for anglers.
Our favourite restaurant is The Atlantic Ocean Grill. For 5 consecutive years this has been voted the most popular restaurant with a view in Brevard County.
This restaurant specialises in seafood and steak and opens from 5 p. m. daily. Make a note that on sundays you can get a champagne brunch from 10 p. m. to 2 p. m.
Oh Sucks seafood bar is a casual eaterie that is completely al fresco.
Marlins is good for lunch; here you can enjoy a variety of light dishes served against the back drop of The Atlantic Ocean. Marlins is open from 11 a. m. daily.
Mai Tiki bar is found right at the end of the pier and this makes it the perfect place to watch the sunset. Make sure you have one of their exotic cocktails in your hand.
The Boardwalk is a great place for a 3 course meal if you are really hungry. Lunchtimes, the lobster roll is pretty special and if you can afford the calories try a Pier Pleasure Bread and Butter pud.
Currently there are 2 shops to browse round. Tropical Threads Boutique where you can select a bikini or other holiday wear and Oceonotions which is a gift shop that sells hand crafted items alongside conventional gifts and skin care.
A third shop called Trader Ricks is scheduled to open soon.
They hold many special events here during the year. These range from boat races to air shows to concerts. Featured in these concerts have been The Beach Boys, U. B. 4O, Maxi Priest and Ali Campbell. Beats an English end of pier show!

If you have small children with you there is a good play ground a few minutes drive south of the pier. There is parking here too for the beach.
