For several years we used to pass the Boardwalk always saying next visit we would make time to go there. We really did not realise just how much there was to do whether you visited at day or night.
There are lots of activities whether you go during the day or at night. Here you can find midway games, jugglers, entertainers, food vendors and magic shows. Each time we go we tend to either spend a day or an evening there.
During the day we find that Surrey bike riding along the Boardwalk is a real must. This bike rental is a great activity for families or groups of friends. Renting these pretty, fringed surrey bikes is available until 10. 30 every night. You are allowed to pedal around Crescent Lake over to the Yacht and Beach Club, or the Swan/Dolphin.
Bayside Marina you will find outside Disney's Yacht Club Resort and is open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. daily. Here you can rent water mice, pontoon boats, and other watercraft. This is also the place to book an Illuminations Cruise at Epcot.
You can hire Canopy Boats which are motorized boats seating up to up to 8 adults or a motorized Pontoon Boat seating 10.
For those wanting a more leisurely ride there are Pedal Boats. I think they were about $7 for 30 minutes at Cabana Beach Club, which you will find outside Walt Disney World Dolphin. Here you can also rent a Hydrobike that resembles a bicycle affixed to a pontoon.
Our girls loved the Albatross Treasure Cruise. This is for children aged 4-10 years. They wore bandannas as they followed clues and sailed to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. They loved having a lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookie, and a juice drink and at the end they divided the “buried treasure”! I am not sure if this cruise takes place daily so you would need to check if you plan to go on it.
On one of our visits my brother left us to go on a Guided Bass Fish Excursion. He is not a fanatical fisherman but this was a two-hour trip and there were only three other fishermen on his boat and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I noticed there is also a Kids Fishing Around the World trip for children 6 – 12 years of age that lasts an hour.
We usually finish our daytime visits to the Boardwalk at Fantasia Gardens. This is an 18-hole miniature golf course that all the whole family love particularly seeing the dancing hippo and xylophone stairs.
At the end of the day we head back to the villa to sit around the pool and relax but not forgetting to stop at Sizzlers or Golden Coral on the 192 to sample their “all-u-can eat” buffet on the way!Page added on: 13 November 2007
