This was our first time on a Golf course in Florida, and because me and my friend do not play regularly we thought this 9-hole course would be prefect.

We arrange for an early tee off time at 7am as to avoid the heat and give us the afternoon to visit Downtown Disney. We hired clubs and they included all the clubs you would need for the course. You will need to keep your receipt to collect the clubs from the side of the club house.

Some technical back ground information on the course. This 2,913 yard, nine-hole, par-36 walking course, is located by the Magnolia golf course. Ron Garl designed this course, the holes range from 136 yards to 517 yards from the back tees.

We were one of the first to tee off but already the grounds men were already out preparing the course, which is very picturesque and beautifully landscaped. If this is their non Championship course I will have to practice to play one of them.

My friend and I decided to play match-play, and after surveying the first we both drove off my friend was his normal steady self, and drove straight down the middle (his problem is water……more to follow), and my drive as normal went to the left.

At the fifth hole there are toilets and a refreshment stand where you can get cold drinks and food, however it was not open at the time we played through.

The fifth hole was also my favourite as I hit a beautiful 5 iron off the tee, followed by another to just off the front green, chipped on to four feet from the hole and then sunk a par putt. However that was my one moment of glory.

At the seventh there is a small lake, which was calm and looked like a mirror, reflecting back the trees which run along the right side of the fairway, I pointed this out to my friend who said it looked more like a magnet than a mirror, and sadly he duly drove his ball into the lake, his second effort was only a little better and his ball stop on the bank of the lake, his next shot take to the middle of the fairway and to his relief away from the water.

Overall this was a very enjoyable morning, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys playing golf.

For directions to the Oak Trail Golf Course, follow the signs from I-4 or 192 to the Magic Kingdom Park. Stay in the far right lane of the Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza. Follow the signs to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. The golf course is located across the street, and is well sign posted.
