Epcot – World Showcase – United Kingdom

There are 11 countries in the World Showcase, the United Kingdom is the 10th if you are going clockwise around the lagoon.
Walking into the UK at Epcot is great, there are lots of examples of our great architectural history with replicas of the Victorian, Tudor, Georgian, and Regency periods. There is a London scene with Hyde Park and even a Shakespearean cottage, Oh and don’t forget to keep your eyes open for the traditional red phone box!
For a little peace and quiet why not wander through the Butterfly and Knot Herb garden, the smell from the herbs is wonderful. There is also a traditional hedge maze that keeps the children both young and old amused.
Although there is no “ride” this is more than made up for by the selection of shops where you will be served by people from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
The shops sell a variety of traditional goods from the UK including Twinings teas, board games such as Monopoly and Cluedo, traditional sweets like Milky Bar, white chocolate and box’s of Quality Street. There are also some lovely pieces of fine bone china.
When you are wandering around the shops if you see little staircases don’t be afraid to take a wander there are lots of interesting things to be seen upstairs!
Rose and Crown – this quaint pub set right on the edge of the lagoon is open for both lunch and dinner. A really useful tip is to book your table in the evening to and request an outside table as you get a brilliant view of the Illuminations firework show.
The menu has such offerings as smoked salmon or grilled prawns to start, followed by Harry Ramsden’s traditional fish and chips or prime rib with Yorkshire pudding, even Bangers and Mash! – But don’t make the mistake of not leaving room for one of the mouth watering desserts, Baileys Crème Brulee, Chocolate and Drambuie trifle, Sticky Toffee Pudding to name just a few!
Alternatively there is a counter service selling fish and chips or chicken and chips, you can take these down to some tables and chairs to the right of the pub where you also get a wonderful view across the lagoon.
Don’t forget that like all other Disney Restaurants the Rose and Crown is a smoke free zone.
