We have often passed by the sign on I4 for Flight of Fantasy its about half way between Tampa and Orlando in Polk City and really never gone in but last time in Florida we decided to give it a go and what a success.

We did think that it would just be old planes to look around but what a wonderful experience

The entrance fee covered all the tours the only other cost was if you wanted to go up in the biplane. (Children under 5 were free) the opening times were 10 am to 5 pm

There was a good crowd there when we got there but the place is quite big so there was no hustle and bustle

There were lots of rare old world war one planes that had been restored. They do offer tours around the private air field and a tour around the restoration area you can sit in the cockpit of one of the planes and they also have a state of the art hand glide simulator. children did enjoy getting into the cockpit and were positively encouraged to get in and pretend to fly

We found that many of the planes had videos inside the cockpit so you could play dogfights shooting at the other planes with the aid of a joy stick.

All the kids did seem to enjoy the time there some even said it was better than Disney as it was interactive.

You can also take a biplane ride I think it was about $60 but unfortunately on the day we visited we did not get the chance I think we would try to book ahead in future as it looked great fun

There is also a diner done out in a 1930s theme and they serve good milk shakes and variety of other food

The gift shop had lots of interesting books and videos depicting memorable times in aviation history, plus other gifts and memorabilia

They did say that they had more that 40 restored planes

The man that owns fantasy of Flight is called Kermit Weeks and we did get to speak to him he is so enthusiastic about planes it is infectious

When the biplane took off it did loops and turns and we were told that the pilots name was “the great Waldo” and that he had been flying “forever”

We did enjoy our time there and the kids loved it.
