What do I like about Florida – part 2
As I said in my previous article there are just so many things we like.
The next thing we like are the restaurants. Whatever your budget there is always somewhere you can find to eat. There are the budget eateries, like Dennys, Ponderosa, Golden Corral and Shoneys. Then there are the slightly more expensive restaurants like Olive Garden, Carrabaras, Chillis and Applebees, to name but a few. Of course there IS the favourite of many a home owner and that is the Cheesecake Factory at Mall of Millenia. I do not know of anyone who does not like going there. Their cheesecakes are ’ to die for’ . I never eat cheesecake at home but I can always find room for one of theirs. Next you can find the more expensive restaurants for example, Texas de Brazil, Seasons 52 and the Disney restaurants at The Boardwalk. For a special celebration I would thoroughly recommend V & A at The Grand Floridian.
Again every time we go we try at least one new restaurant as well as our favourites. I can honestly say that in all our visits to Florida over a period of eighteen years we have only every had one really bad meal but I will not mention where that was because I know others who have been there and have had good meals. We were just very unlucky that night.
The next thing about Florida that we like has to be the Theme Parks. Everyone has their favourite one but I think out of the Disney Parks ours has to be Epcot, although Animal Kingdom comes a very close second. From the moment you walk in and come to Spaceship Earth and then The World Showcase it is all fantastic. One attraction here stands out head and shoulders above all others and that is Soarin. We always plan to do this at least twice, using our Fast Pass, when we go to Epcot. When asked to describe it I say it must be like being on a hang glider. When talking about the Disney Parks you cannot fail to mention the firework displays. They are all fantastic and I cannot choose between them as the three of them are different.
The other Park that we have to visit when we go is Sea World. If you are lucky and time your arrival right you can get round the whole park in one day, although it does rely on some fast walking at times. We just love watching Shamu, especially when he is feeling in a devilish mood and decides to do some extra splashing and people get even wetter than normal. We were there one day and it even caught the camera man unawares as he had uncovered his camera and then quickly had to cover it up again.
Of course there are the other Parks to visit, Universal and then I must not forget the water parks and even at our advanced age we feel our visit to Florida is not complete without a trip to one of them.
