What do I like about Florida – part 3
When I started writing part 1 I never thought I would still be going on part 3. It just shows how many things there are about Florida to like.
Before I leave the Orlando area I have to mention the shopping. With the current exchange rate shopping is a ’ shoppers delight’ . Everyone has their favourites to visit and mine have to be Buena Vista, where I head for Vanity Fair and Liz Clairbourne. I then head off to Florida Mall where there are just so many favourites I cannot name them all. Just go and visit yourselves and you will see what I mean. There are the department stores there as well as the smaller individual shops. If you are feeling extravagant there is Mall of Millenia to visit, but just remember you do have to have deep pockets. There are of course the other Malls to visit. I look in my wardrobe at home and see mostly Florida clothes. About the only things I buy in the UK is underwear! !
If and when you tire of Orlando, we never have, there are so many places to visit. For day trips you can head for the Gulf Coast and the sandy beaches. While there take a boat trip to go dolphin watching. Last time we were there we went on the Seascreamer and I would thoroughly recommend it. If they take you out and you do not see any dolphins you get a free trip. It takes just over an hour to get to the coast. You can always stay for a night and make a visit to Busch Gardens and take in their delights. We haven’ t been there for about eleven years but do intend to do so in the near future.
Instead of going west you can head east and visit the Atlantic Ocean. There you will find The Kennedy Space Center. The first time we went to Florida in 1990 my husband wanted to go there, I didn’ t but I thought I must go as he would be going to things I wanted to do but he didn’ t want to. I am so glad that I did go as it is fascinating. It has changed since we went, both because of security measures that have had to be taken and also because of extras that are now available. Again spend a night over there and the next day you can visit Merritt Island Nature Reserve where you might see bald eagles. There is also the Astronauts Hall of Fame to visit. We have yet to find time to go there but again it is on our list of things to do.
As you can see there are still many things that we have not done yet. We just need more visitors so we have an excuse to do them all.
