Mannys Chophouse
Like many visitors to Florida we are regular diners at Mannys Chophouse in Haines City.
This year we were returning from a day at Cypress Gardens and apart from an ice-cream we had not eaten since breakfast so although it was only 4. 30 pm we thought why not have an early dinner at Mannys, our favourite restaurant before going back to the villa to do a few jobs.
We drove into the car park which looked fairly full and Brian dropped me off so I could go in while he parked the car. I went to book a table and was told there was a 15 – 20 minute wait. Fine I thought that is not too long. So while I waited to be joined I ordered two Bud lights. Well within five minutes we were called to our table. Once we were seated we were handed our menu and included in this was an 'Early Bird' menu which came into force as long as you were seated by 6 pm. We thought why not, even if the portions are not as large as usual we might have room for the sweet we had never had room for before. We both opted for medium cooked sirloin steaks.
The menu was obviously not as large as the normal menu but consisted of eleven main courses, all these included the Mannys famous salad plus a choice of baked sweet potato, baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes or black beans and rice. There was also a hot chicken salad and a choice of four sandwiches with fries and salad.
Our salad, accompanied by the equally popular yeast rolls with cinnamon butter, arrived and this as usual was delicious, it is the only salad dressing I like, normally I cannot stand any dressing on my salads. This eaten, our 8 oz steaks and sweet potato arrived. We were half way through them and had run out salad so asked for some more, this came promptly.
Steaks were finished, second bowl of salad nearly finished and we looked at each other and thought could we manage a sweet, yes we said, let's go for it and decided on a Key Lime Pie, well let's say we felt we could hardly walk out of the door.
An extremely good meal all for $38 including a generous tips.
Oh yes and I forgot to mention all drinks before 7 pm are 2 for 1.
I think we will be back.
