On our last trip to the villa, I decided as I was on my own to invite some good fiends out for the evening to Mannys Chophouse which is located on the US27 just by Wal*Mart at Haines City.
Now this is a favorite restaurant of my husband and I but unfortunately at this stage he was not with me on this trip, so my 2 friends and I turned up at the restaurant and waited about 15 minutes until our table was ready but all along I had been hatching an evil plan…………….
In fact my husband was indeed joining us for dinner straight from the airport where he was flying in for the second week of my trip and to surprise our friends. So imagine their faces when he arrived shortly after us. The three of us were standing at the door whist my male friend was at the bar, when I saw hubby enter I acknowledged him then grabbed my female friend, who wondered what the heck was going on and then nearly died of shock when she saw my other half, to the stage where she was like “look look there’s Andy” as if I did not know he was coming and then she was literally speechless with shock! Andy then went to the bar and asked our male friend for a pint of lager and when he turned round he looked like he had seen a ghost, it was such a picture!
After this shock they were delighted that we were all together and we set about the lovely menu.
French onion soup all around was in order this is so yummy we order it every time we go. Then came the lovely mixed salad which is one of the best I have ever tasted with soft warm rolls with Cinnamon butter, yummy but an acquired taste but I don’t care if no one else likes the all the more for me!
Then onto the main course and again 3 of us cannot see past the Filet Mignon, I have mine with blue cheese, and the fourth member cannot see past the T Bone steak. We are all creatures of habit when it comes to Mannys I am afraid. Side dishes included French Fries, loaded baked potatoes and mash plus an array of veg. No room for dessert at Manny’s! The bill including drink was around $80 all in.
We washed down the meal down with beer, wine, coke and cocktails apart from me who was the driver and also suffering with a chest infection but as I had laid the trap I could not take to my sick bed. It was worth the effort of it all just to see the look on our friends faces.
I could have picked fancier places for my surprise but we just love the food in Manny’s and it is a great place for a get together no matter the number in the party.Page added on: 27 March 2007
