Michaels Crafts
MICHAELS is an art n craft lover’s paradise. It is a huge superstore selling every sort of craft material you could imagine. I recently visited the store located in the Loop shopping Mall which has just literally opened however there are locations all over the Orlando and surrounding areas. I only popped in for a couple of items to make my Xmas cards and came out $200 down! Mind you did I really need the elf and Santa Claus outfits for my favourite teddies back waiting for me in the Villa!?!.........Moving swiftly on!
There is every product you can imagine available to buy but just to give you an idea, my purchases consisted of
• Mosaic tiles in metallic pink with a hint of gold plus the glue (For a splash panel behind my kitchen sinks).
• Card and papers to make my Xmas and New Year cards.
• Rubber Stamps with Xmas designs and greetings.
• Card inserts which you embellish the inside of your handmade cards with.
• Jolees Boutique Xmas embellishments (which are half the price as they are back home, so I went a bit mad here)!
• My two teddy bear outfits…least said the better!
• Xmas cellophane bags for small gifts and homemade sweeties.
• Various Wilton baking items including a stand for my Cup cakes.
There are projects for children and the beginner through to the expert Crafter and serious artist as they also stock a huge supply of Artist materials such as oil paint, brushes, charcoal, pencils, canvas, easels and the likes. Unfortunately my skills don’t stretch that far. A good addition is the stock of books which explains every craft from Knitting to beading and card making.
They hold weekly classes in a particular craft and are always looking for people with skills to teach these crafts. Only last week they were looking for someone to teach hand made cards. Now there is a job for me!
They have a fantastic website also which is worth a visit as it gives you lots of inspiration as well as useful information about what you can find in store as there is too much stuff to list it here in the article. At the moment they have at least 25 projects for the holidays. They also have tons and tons of Xmas items in store presently (November 14) from decorations, to wrapping paper, to cards and all the stuff to make your own.
