This is one of the newer shows at Magic Kingdom and takes place in the PhiharMagic Concert Hall in Fantasyland, This is just opposite “It’s a Small World” and the Small World attraction gets very busy as people exit PhilharMagic.

This really is a “must see” for us everytime we visit Magic Kingdom and at quieter times have gone to the attraction twice! It last just over ten minutes and is Disney 3D animation at its best. Apparently the entire production of Mickey’ s PhilharMagic was created totally on computer, representing the first time the featured classic Disney characters were completely modeled and animated by computer.

This is a Fastpass attraction so be sure to get your pass as soon as you enter Fantasyland. The show is very noisy and whilst most young children enjoy it if your child is nervous with noise it might be best to leave them outside with another member of your family.

Once you go through the turnstiles you will find yourself in the dimly lit waiting area with a series of doors. If you look closely, you’ ll notice that the end of the steel railings curve very gracefully inward, like the ends of a spiraling music staff.

In this waiting area there are sets of doors opening into the main theater. The doors on the right lead to the back of the theater and the doors on the left lead to the front rows. If you can go to the left doors try to get in one of the first five rows. All the seats in the theatre are padded and very comfortable with lots of leg room. Look at the " architecture" of the theatre seats, the posts on the seat backs are carved like fiddle heads.

The gold is stage decorated with musical instruments. The show starts and you hear Goofy running around backstage. You realize that the orchestra is missing and Donald is sleeping. However the curtains go up anyway and the show starts.

You will see some of Disney’s favourite characters like Flounder, Ariel, Simba, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Aladdin, Jasmine, Iago, Mickey, and, of course, Donald whilst you hear some of Disney’s most memorable songs.

You will love the 3D effects, they are brilliant, and these along with other effects (scents, vibrations, wind, etc. ) make this a fantastic show. The screen even expands to be one of the widest in the world.

At the end of the show be sure to look behind you at the back wall – I will not spoil the surprise but what you will see will make you laugh!

Donald Duck fans will be delighted when they exit the theatre as they go through a whole shop filled with Donald Duck merchandise.
