Having flown to Florida with nearly all the Charter airlines in Economy before, we wanted to experience the upgraded service that they offered. We had heard many people that have used the service before and heard nothing but good praise. We were flying with Mytravel, one of the big tour operators in the UK.

The extra price for the seat was around 175 pounds return, this included extra large leather seats with 34 inches of pitch, more leg room, dedicated check in, personal DVD player, separate cabin and a bigger baggage limit of 40 kilo per person.

The first part of our trip was the check in at Manchester Airport, during peak seasons this can be very busy at the dedicated Mytravel check in terminal. As we were flying Premiar Gold we had a dedicated check in. This did seem to get us through much quicker as there were not as many people queuing. Overall a good start.

When boarding the plane you also get on board first and are greeted with a drink of orange juice or wine, this is a nice touch as you end up sitting on the plane for a lot longer as you have boarded first.

Overall impression was that the cabin was very spacious, but looked a little dated. During the flight all your drinks are included in the Premiar service, this is not so in Economy. All food is the same as you get in Economy.

During the flight it was a very nice experience to have the extra leg room and bigger seats, I did feel much more refreshed when we arrived and not as tired from being cramped up in Economy. All Movies were the same as in Economy.

When we arrived in Orlando we were the first off the plane, this was great and gave us a flying start to get to customs first. If you have ever experienced Sanford when all the charter flights arrive you will know what I mean and agree that getting off the flight first could save you around 30 -60 minutes.

If you are after trying to fly direct cheaper than the scheduled airlines (Virgin, BA and American Airlines), then flying with a charter airline can be a good option. Yes the Premium economy service from Virgin is better, but you would pay almost double the Mytravel fayre.

Overall I would say that this service is a very good for the money, it gives you the extra space and service and allows you to arrive a little fresher after the 10 hour flight. I would certainly recommend this for anyone who is traveling in Economy on any charter airlines.
