At the traffic lights on Rotonda Blvd West turn left on to Placida Rd (775)
Follow the 775 down for approx 5 miles. You will see signs for the Palm Island Ferry on right hand side. Panama Blvd is just before Johnny Leverock' s Seafood House. Turn right onto Panama Blvd. Drive to the end of the road to board the car ferry to Palm Island. You can also arrange a water taxi to take you over. If so park in Leverock’s car park. Phone the restaurant to arrange the water taxi.
There is a small charge for the water taxi but it is definitely worth it especially if you are followed by dolphins on your journey.
The restaurant has a “Key West” feel with wooden shutters opening out on to the beach side. The food is good with a wide selection of fish and meats. This restaurant closes early so best for lunch allowing you to explore the island or go over to eat at sunset. Our kids loved the laid back feel of the restaurant and the water taxi was a big hit – but it would also be a great venue for a romantic meal for two.
15 minute drive
Fishery Restaurant
Old Florida Style Waterfront Dining
Placida, Florida * 941-697-2451
At the traffic lights on Rotonda Blvd West turn left on to Placida Rd (775)
Follow the 775 as far as it will go, passing the turn off to Gasparilla Island (RHS) just up ahead where the 775 meets the 771 are two roads off to the right. First is Pier Rd, next is Fishery Rd (RHS). Turn into Fishery and you will find the restaurant up ahead 50 yards on right hand side.
This restaurant is on the water and the views are wonderful. It’s very popular at lunchtime and also around sunset. Diners get there in a variety of ways and I love how they put it on their website
“Walk-Ins, Boat-Ins, Swim-Ins,
Float-Ins
Always Welcome”
The Fishery is a family business. They have fished there for generations and you can still feel the “Old Florida” charm. They pride themselves on friendliness and hospitality.
As you would expect the menu is predominately seafood but you can get New York Strip, Filet Minion or Chicken Fingers …if you must.
