Hands up - who loves shopping?

Well – if you like shopping at home – you’ll just love it in Florida!

One of the best shopping areas is the Florida Mall which is a particular favourite for the Brits on holiday!

Located centrally, on the junction of the Orange Blossom Trail and the Sand Lake Road, the Florida Mall can fill several hours and is a particularly good place to visit should you have a day of rain as it is all under cover. On a hot, sunny day the mall is a welcome relief from the searing heat as it is all fully air conditioned.

The mall itself is surrounded by a car park and a good tip is to park by either a department store or the entrance to the food court so that you will remember where to find your car later!

Several major department stores are there, such as Sears, Dillards, Nordstrom, Sachs Fifth Avenue, Macys and JC Penneys. You can literally spend hours in each, browsing the concessions etc. Many of these department stores have a continual sale! A good tip in Macys if you are from the UK, go to customer services with some photo ID and you will be issued with a card which gives you a discount on all your shopping, valid for 30 days!

There are countless smaller shops all with bargains to be had. If you have forgotten to pick up a souvenir from Disney there is a Disney store. There are names that you will recognise (if you are British) such as Gap, Zales, Body Shop, Victorias Secret, Apple and many more American names that you may not have heard of but are excellent stores.

In the centre of the walkways there are stalls selling all sorts of items, such as jewellery, t-shirts, sunglasses, phones, calendars, etc

During November and December the Christmas decorations are fabulous and there is a Santa Claus and grotto giving a real festive feel to the mall.

If you want to have a break from shopping and stop for a while there are coffee shops such as Starbucks where you can have a coffee and a cake. If you want something more substantial then visit the food hall. There you will find a vast range of food ranging from baguettes at Subway to Chinese and Japanese food, burgers, wraps etc.

The Florida Mall is well worth a visit as a change from the Disney Parks and other tourist attractions.

Enjoy!
