We love visiting Orlando International Airport, which is one of the finest in the world. It ranks 4th in the US and 1st in Florida, and has an expanding shopping facility of high-end shops to suit all tastes. The shops are located in the East and West Halls and the North and South Walks. Even while you wait for your flight you can ‘shop ‘till you drop’! Here is a guide to the retail outlets you will find here: THE SOUTH WALK Altitunes For music, CDs, DVDs, MP3 players, accessories, adaptors and CD wallets Bijoux Ternier Inexpensive jewellery and beautiful pashminas in every colour under the sun. Mel Fisher’s Treasures This is a fascinating gift and jewellery shop which was started by Mel Fisher, whose family own a world-class salvage and conservation business. His family has been diving and searching for treasure from the ‘1715 fleet,’ numbering about 10 ships, which sank off the coast of Florida during a hurricane. They started salvaging the fleet in 1963, and are still doing so. They are also salvaging the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, and her sister ship, the Santa Margarita, which sank in 1622, off the coast of Key West. All these ships of the Spanish fleet were carrying vast amounts of gold bullion and silver ingots and all were sunk by hurricanes. In this most unusual shop you can buy replica coins, rings, jewellery, chains, treasure books and videos as well as souvenirs. You can also buy genuine emeralds, gold bars etc. online.
