What’s so Special about Florida? - Part 1 - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Miscellaneous

I am often asked so what’s so special about Florida? Well in my view there are a number of things that make it special although I have to state from the outset that most of my Floridian experience is based on frequent trips to Orlando although I have visited places such as Clearwater and Ocala too.

Well firstly it has to be the climate and the weather because the weather is truly great they don’t call it the sunshine state for nothing, if like me you’re from the UK you will no doubt love your own country which is very pretty and green. Florida is nothing like the UK but it has the sunshine there simply is nothing better for a good dose of therapeutic sunshine than a trip to Florida. It’s a great way to beat the winter blues that we get here in the UK, as the winter at home is dark, grey and cold the winter in Orlando couldn’t be more different.

Even in the height of the winter the temperatures can be quite warm indeed as good as the average summer temperature here in the UK, it goes dark around the same time as the UK but the days are just so much brighter and warmer

It rains in both the UK and Florida but unlike home in the UK when it rains in Florida it rains HEAVY but outbursts are often short and an hour or so after its bright and dry again you don’t get the all day long rain of home

Should you be lucky enough to be able to work from home then Florida is a great place to spend the winter months, most vacation rental homes offer access to broadband internet a large proportion of them offering it for FREE as part of the rental package

Winter rentals can also well priced especially if you are booking a month or longer and the facilities are very good, on top of this the cost of living is much cheaper than here in the UK and so a long trip can work out very cost effective. So if you lucky enough to be able to work from home with your laptop why not book a trip over to Florida, you can easily get access to internet, phone and fax, I mean what could be better that writing that report out on the Lanai in the lovely warm sunshine, maybe take a short break with a dip in the pool, all this when its grey, cold and damp at home in the UK

This is one of the reasons Florida is Special to me.
