What a strange title you may well be thinking!

As a Brit, if you have never been to Florida, or indeed the USA before, prepare yourself for a surprise!

Everything in America seems bigger than you could ever have imagined – roads, cars, homes, shops – even portion sizes in restaurants! Walmarts is no exception! It is without doubt the largest supermarket I have ever seen and with the most varied products for sale I have ever seen under one roof!

My husband jokes that when we go to Walmarts it’s a day trip! He always manages to lose me and he also jokes that I need a map to get out! !

If you are going in to stock up on food provisions I would advise that you leave that until last as you will for sure get sidetracked and your frozen goodies will end up a limp wet mess!

Well – where to start?

Most Walmart stores are set out in a similar layout. The food section is to the right hand side so we usually start on the left and work our way across.

There is a huge pharmacy area where you can stock up on your toiletries for your holiday (I never bring them from home as it makes for a lighter suitcase! ).

Work your way around the household section – bargains to be had in all areas! We often take bedding or towels back home with us as they are light to carry and there are some lovely choices…as well as prices!

Toys – children will love scanning the array of goodies and get an idea of what American kids are currently in to!

Clothing and shoes – some real bargains to be had here! Brand name jeans at a fraction of the price. Shoes are a passion for me too and there is plenty of choice. For those who are used to shopping in Asda you will recognise the own brand name in the clothing department – but you’ll love the price!

Electronics, cameras, golf clubs and other sports gear, nic-nacs and gifts, babywear…. the list is endless! You may need to visit the luggage section to pick up an extra bag for the journey home! (Do bear in mind your airline weight restrictions and the customs allowance of course! ).

You will also find some 'shops within a shop' such as dry cleaning, hair dressing salon, nail bar, opticians, a bank branch maybe.

When you are all shopped out, don’t forget to pickup your copy of a British newspaper so that you can get back to the pool deck and relax in the sun!
