Star Tours ride at Disney's Hollywood studios
I don' t know why but this ride has always been a favourite of our family probably because when the kids were very small they loved this ride it was one of the favourites although it could possibly be because when I was about to leave school Stars Wars had just come out at the box office and everywhere you went everyone was talking about it
As you leave the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular the Star tours building is close by, it looks great from the outside with a large figure from the movie towering over you, once again this ride can get very busy especially after the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular shows ends.
The queue takes you through the repair droid area where various droids are working repairing other droids and ships which you will recognise from the movie, this is well done and will keep the kids amused while you queue for the ride and of course its air conditioned so its cool
You watch a little film explaining about the journey your about to take and soon you enter the star speeder which is going to take you to the moon of Endor, the pilot is yet another droid on his first flight this is where the fun begins, as you manuver to exit the space station he takes a wrong turn and this sets the tone for the whole adventure.
Soon your star speeder jumps to hyper space only to enter the wrong area of space and you become involved in a interplanetary battle with Darth Vader’s dark forces, you are twisting and turning from side to side in your seat. Shortly after you take a hit and this is when your co pilot R2D2 makes his appearance repairing the damage.
You make the famous run into the death star that was famous in the films evading the fighters and the gun emplacements before dropping the charge that blows up the death star only this time it' s up to you all to use the force , it is really exciting.
This is of course a simulator but the ride is very well done despite it being a little old by now as it was built in 1987, but the action is good and the movement of the star speeder really does make you feel like you battling away in space along with the great visuals this is truly a great classic ride.
This has long been a favourite of our family the kids love d it when they were little but even though they are now both grown up we still visit it every time I am sure you and your kids will love it
