Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios
In June we planned to visit Hollywood Studios for the day, unknown to us at the time though it was the annual Star Wars Weekend.
When we arrived at the ticket booths we were amazed to see Storm Troupers standing on patrol on the roof. If you had of seen my husbands face, (he is 38 years old) it was like all his Christmas Wishes and Dreams had come true, he kind of looked like my 5 year old daughter did when she seen Mickey and Minnie Mouse. My brother in law was just the same.
On entering the park we were amazed to see how many men had arrived that day dressed as Luke Skywalker, OK there were children dressed up but the adults were much more noticeable.
We went our usual route of the park, watched Beauty and The Beast rode on Tower of Terror and Rock and Roller Coaster before heading to watch The Little Mermaid and the Bear in the Big Blue House.
On leaving this area of the park we went down Mickey Avenue and my husband and brother in law were delighted to be confronted by Storm Troupers on patrol. By now they could hardly contain themselves and wanted to go straight over to the Star Tours area of the park. We gently had to remind them they also had four little girls with them who wanted to queue for Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet to have there pictures taken.
While we were in line waiting to get the girls pictures taken with their favourite characters we noticed another much longer queue near The Backlot Tours. After going off to investigate my husband and brother in law came back very excited. It was only The Dark Lord himself this queue was for so off they went armed with a camera to have there pictures taken with Darth Vadar.
The Star Tours area was wonderful, all the characters were out walking around the streets Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and lots more little aliens walking around. Lots of good photo opportunities here. The Star Wars shop had a half hour wait just to get in, but queue we did. My husband and brother in law are now proud owners of their ver own light sabers and Jedi in Training t-shirts.
This weekend is really great for all Star Wars fans, even if you’re not a fan you will have a fantastic time. We really hope to go again in the future.
