Review of ‘Taste of China’
I would definitely recommend ‘Taste of China’ to anyone visiting the Orlando area. Whilst everyone knows that Florida is home to some of the best steak houses and buffet restaurants they also have a good Chinese restaurant. We find after a couple of weeks of steak and salad bar it’s a most welcome change.
Taste of China is located on highway 192, at marker 4 where the entrance to Splendid China used to be, located on the same plaza as the Outback steakhouse. You can choose to dine in for an authentic Chinese meal or they also offer a carry out service. Simply call ahead and they will have your food ready for you to collect within about 20 minutes. If you can wait a little while longer, sometimes in the region of 40 minutes and you’re within 5 miles or so then they will also deliver the food to your property for you.
The menu is extremely varied and quite reasonably priced, a sit down meal for two will cost in the region of $10-$15 per head including drinks. You’ll receive excellent service and outstanding food, the Kung Po chicken is a real treat. If you are dining in make sure you check the Chef’s specials, depending on the season and availability they offer some superb fish dishes. Definitely not to be missed is their speciality Hot’n’Sour soup, it’s delicious.
The menu is very similar to a good Chinese restaurant in the UK; the only dish missing is seaweed, as it doesn’t seem to have caught on in America, which is surprising in Florida considering the number of tourists. I have tried approximately 7-10 different dishes and have never been disappointed. The steak in black bean sauce is delicious and is my personal favourite, the sweet and sour dishes are also a firm favourite. Although the meat is battered it’s very light and with the home made sauce is just the ticket after a hard day at the theme parks. Taste of China also offers a full bar for those who like a tipple whilst dining, we certainly did! Be sure to save some room for desert too as they offer some mouth watering choices. As you’d expect there are some beautiful fruits on offer, the peaches and lychees were just delicious. Most definitely a desert not to be missed is the deep fried ice cream . . . mmmmm delicious

If you visit Taste of China I’m positive you won’t be disappointed, from the friendly staff to the lovely atmosphere of the restaurant to the scrumptious food, you’re in excellent hands. Enjoy!
