Have you ever imagined what it would be like to test drive a car for Ferrari or Lotus? Well, if you ride “Test Track” in Epcot’s Future World it might give you an insight into the exciting world of test-driving.

As you enter the waiting area, which appears to be some sort of test laboratory, you will hear the constant noise of banging and screeching coming from the exhibits. If the lines are long, and you are in this room for some time, the noise does become a little over powering after a while, so it might be a good idea to get a Fastpass which will enable you to short circuit quite a lot of this. If you choose to take the single riders entrance this will also enable you to bypass the waiting area.

As you enter through the turnstiles you will be shown into a small pre-show theate (standing room only) where you will watch a short film which explains the testing procedures which you are about to encounter.

Now the fun begins. Each vehicle takes up to six passengers, two rows of three. You are instructed to buckle up and as the car rounds the first bend a cast member asks you check that your seat belt is safely fastened and then you are off! A number of tests are performed on your vehicle including a hill test, a suspension test over various types of road surfaces, the environmental chamber test where one minute you are boiling hot and then freezing cold, a brake test (one without ABS followed by one with ABS), a barrier test where you are speeding into a brick wall followed by the best and most exciting part of the ride……..the high speed test. This test takes place on a track which is outside the building and goes directly over the entrance to the ride. The car steadily builds up speed whilst an electronic voice gives the miles per hour every few seconds as it eventually reaches a speed of 65 mph.

The last stage of the test is when the vehicle heads back inside the building again and goes through a thermal imager which show up the heat that has been generated on the car and also the guests throughout the test drive.

As you exit the ride do not forget to stop and look at the photograph which has been taken during your ride. These photographs are available to buy in special Test Track frames and are a great way to remember your incredible journey into the world of test-driving.
