The new parade at Universal.
2012 seems to be shaping up to be an epic year for new attractions in the parks and I have another one to tell you about.
Coming up trumps this time are our good friends at Universal.
A good parade always punctuates a day in a park nicely and I can now tell you that Universal have their own in place.
This opened in may 2012 and there is already some good footage on You Tube to whet your appetite. The parade was years in the planning and the attention to detail shows.
Hundreds of performers take part in this parade and the floats are awesome; so imaginative and colourful. They seem to soar up to the sky and must be amazing from a small child' s perspective.
Of course, all your favourite Universal characters are featured. Sponge Bob Square Pants with friends from Bikini Bottom, Gru, his daughters and Vector (Despicable Me) Dora the Explorer (Nickleodeon) and E. B. from Hop.
The Superstar Parade wends it' s way through the park with frequent stops for some character interaction. The music adds to the thrill of it all.
Tumblers, dancers and pogo performers perform stunts and I must make special mention of the costumes which are bright and colourful. .
The floats are heavily laden with L. E. D. lights which as you probably know emit a bright lit with very little energy needed. The music is relayed via 150 state of the art speakers.
Of special note is the Dora and Diego float that is alive with tumbling monkeys and The Despicable Me float that features 2 giant screens from a Minion music video.
The bad news is that while this a fresh attraction, you probably will need to grab your best spot an hour before the parades start. The parade starts every day at 5 p. m. so for those of you who are not that interested in parades this is a cue to ride the most popular attractions while the queues are short.
In the past few months alone Universal have added 2 other big new features: that awesome new ride called Despicable Me, and launched 100 Years of Movie Memories. This should all redress the balance of Harry Potter drawing the crowds over to Islands of Adventure.
And of course, we must not forget the major overhaul they gave to the Blue Man Group earlier in the year which is drawing lots of positive feedback.
