Universal Studios for Little Kids
Whilst Disney is brilliant for little kids Universal Studios tends to cater more to the older kids and teens, however if you are taking younger ones to Universal Studios don’t despair there is still plenty to keep them amused you just need to do a little research before you go to make sure the whole family enjoys the experience.
Height restrictions are there for a reason – Safety – there is no point getting involved in an argument with a cast member if they tell you your child is too small to ride.
In general I would say that Universal Studios has slightly more to offer younger kids that Islands of Adventure and one way for your kids to really enjoy their trip is to get them familiar with the characters and movies that the rides are based on before you travel to Florida.
In the Production Central area don’t miss out on Shrek 4D, it is a show and so no height restrictions and we’ve seen lots of very young kids really enjoying this attraction.
Don’t forget to have a chat and take your photos with Princess Fiona and Donkey – it’s hilarious!
In World Expo you have the Simpsons ride which is a fantastic simulator ride however youngsters must be 40 inches to ride again Men in Black has a 42 inch height requirement but if your kids are tall enough is a must do, it is quite similar to the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney and the aliens are cartoons so not scary!
Woody Woodpecker’s Kidzone is an area designed especially for kids! You can watch A Day in the Park with Barney – with everyone’s favourite purple dinosaur. There is also Barney’s backyard where the kids can make music, draw on the walls some of the games are limited to those below either 48 or 36 inches.
Another great play area is Curious George Goes to Town – there are wet and dry play areas here, the wet area can get very wet and watch out above! The dry area has lots of very soft balls that you collect and then fire from the huge guns on the second level, the balls are so soft that most people don’t even realize they’ve been hit!
There is also a mini coaster for those over 36inches called Woody Woodpeckers Nuthouse Coaster.
Fievel’s Playland has lots of opportunities for interactive playas well as a 2 person raft ride down a water slide.
The Kidzone is home to the E. T. Adventure – this ride is fabulous for youngsters and don’t forget to listen for your kids names at the end of the ride.
Animal Actors on Location is a show that most youngsters will enjoy – Cats, dogs, monkeys and some other animals performing tricks.
Around the park you will also get the chance to meet the characters, just check your park map for the daily times.
