Villa versus Hotel - Orlando / Florida Guide

For many years we always spent our holidays in a hotel. Self catering seemed to me to be a bad option as surely it would be no holiday at all for the lady of the house – that’s me! I have enough of cooking and caring for a family at home and the idea of relaxing and doing nothing on holiday really appealed.

Then…. . we tried a villa holiday! How wrong could I have been!

I would never go back to spending a holiday in a cramped hotel room!

I had never really thought about the luxuries a villa provides. A real home from home and of course in Florida with a few added luxuries which we aren’t used to at home!

How many of us can get up in the morning and have a leisurely dip in a nice warm pool? What a treat!

Stay in a hotel – and you have to leave the sanctuary of your room to go to a communal pool area. Not nearly so enjoyable.

A nice comfortable living area to relax after a busy day, with all the comforts of home- TV, DVD etc. A hotel? Well yes – you may have a TV. How do you watch it? Perched on the end of the bed!

Your own personal sun loungers – no need to get up at the crack of dawn to ensure your best position in the sun!

Meal choices! No need to be up in time for breakfast – we like to please ourselves and have breakfast at a time we want – and with the choice to have breakfast out when we want! Main meals – well if you do want to stay in then why not delegate it to the man in your life and have a bbq? Otherwise – a visit to one of the many restaurants!

There are so many options!

Children – well if you’ve stayed in a hotel as a family then this is the one big drawback! All in one room – and what do you do when the little ones are tired and want to go to bed – does everyone go to bed at the same time or do you sit quietly in the room trying not to disturb them up!

In a villa – perfect! Put the younger members of the family to bed when they are ready leaving the grown ups to enjoy their evening without disturbing the youngsters! What better way to spend an evening than relaxing with a glass of wine outside by the pool, knowing that the young ones are safely tucked up in bed!

If you are looking for a social life on holiday many villas are on communities with a clubhouse and other activities.

For me a villa holiday wins hands down! I enjoy the freedom it brings, the space and facilities. I choose not to cook and do other household chores as I don’t need to!

Perfect!
