WAL-MART - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Shopping

Well where to begin? Wal-Mart is the one store on everyone’s to do list and after your first visit you will be hooked.

There are many many Wal-Marts in the Orlando and surrounding area where most of the villas are located. Realistically, vacationing in a villa you should never be more than a 20 minute drive from America’s favorite store the Mightly Wal-Mart or Sprawl Mart as the Simpson’s rightly call it. Many of the Wal-Mart stores are open 24 hrs a day and you can check where your nearest one is located, opening hours, etc at www.walmart.com

It is a consumer’s paradise and for all your shopping needs you should be able to find almost everything you require under one roof unless it is a specialty item, you also will find in your average Wal-Mart store

Hair Salon
Nail Salon
Opticians
Bank
Some sort of eatery (McDonalds in many of the stores)
Travel Agency
Insurance
Pharmacy

Even males of the species are known to enjoy the odd trip to Wal-Mart as they have an Automotive, gardening, DIY, and electrical section to keep most men happy.

Kids of all ages are kept happy with a huge range of toys, sporting equipment, music, electronic games etc.

For the ladies, they are kept happy with aisles and aisle of house hold items, shoes, clothes, music, books and magazines and a whole host of other goodies including groceries and bakery items. If anyone in your party has a Birthday, or indeed any celebration, whilst on holiday you can easily pick up a cake for a few dollars, given enough notice you will be able to customize it also.

For the crafty amongst you they have a nice section with lots of bargains to be had and stock things for knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrap booking, card making, cake making, jewelry designing, beading, and children’s craft projects are just some of the activities catered for. They have a great material department with patterns a lot cheaper than back home.

It is also worth a visit around holiday times as they have all sorts of goodies relating to whatever holiday they are celebrating at the time. Christmas is a great time as is Halloween!
For the romantics amongst you don’t miss a trip near St Valentine’s Day.

Most of the stores sell groceries although some of the smaller stores only sell non perishables like crisps, drinks, cleaning materials etc. The larger Wal-Mart’s are fully stocked on the grocery front, they even sell live Lobsters.

You could write forever about what you will find in Wal-Mart but the best thing to do is hop on a plane and come see for yourself!
