People often ask me when the best time of Year is to visit Florida. Due to the perfect weather and climate throughout the Year, Florida is one of the Worlds best all Year round destination. Florida has on average over 280 days of sunshine per Year and in the winter months can be warm and dry.
We tend to go to Florida in the months of Nov and Mar as these are the best months for warm sunny days and cloudless skies. Having a small child means we tend to prefer going when the temperatures are not as hot and humidity is lower.
If you like your holidays hot, then make sure you travel in the months of Jun, Jul & Aug as this is when the temperatures are the warmest. Generally temperatures of 32 degrees Centigrade or above will be during these months. If going in these months make sure you make the most of the lovely early morning sunshine as in the afternoon you can get the odd shower. These are nothing like the UK and are generally warm and a nice rest bite from the humid temperatures. These tend to normally last until early evening when they clear ready for the next day. In the summer the sunshine lasts around 11 hours and those that like to sunbath will be able to do this from around 8am.
If travelling in Late Nov, Dec & Jan you will find nice warm days and cooler nights. Remember to bring some warm fleece type jacket or jumper as temps can get as low as 5 degrees during the night. Normal temperatures during the day reach around 20 degrees Centigrade in these months. What I like about this time of the Year is parks are a lot quieter and waiting for the rides is a lot easier as it is not so hot. Daytime sunshine tends to be around 6 hours in the winter, setting around 4pm. Those who stay in villas with a south facing pool and deck will benefit the most during the winter due to the sun being on the pool all day. If visiting in the winter months it is essential to have pool and spa heating, this can be cheaper than you think and most villa owners offer this service. The months for pool heat are normally from Sep – May.
Everyone will have their own best time to go to Florida, for us it is the out of season months, however those who like the weather to be hotter and have longer sun would prefer the summer months. If travelling with younger children the out of season dates would also suit better. If I was to say which is the best month, personally speaking, I would probably have to go for May, this has good sunshine and warmer temperatures, but it is not too hot to be uncomfortable. However, which ever dates you choose you are going to have a great time !
