Starting on 1st October 2006 Walt Disney World will be celebrating a “Year of a Million Dreams”. The aim of this celebration named “Where Dreams Come True” is to surprise guests with unique experiences. Cast members are empowered to deliver these surprises to unsuspecting visitors in the parks, Disney hotels or even Downtown Disney.

Disney will be concentrating on guest experiences for the upcoming year, and these will include some once in a lifetime real treats! One very special experience will be a sleepover in Cinderella’s Castle. For 365 consecutive days, one family will be chosen, at random, to enjoy a day of royal treatment and then to spend the night in the castle. Rumour has it that when the castle was built in 1971 an apartment was also going to be built, inside the castle, for the Disney family’s use only. Unfortunately, the apartment was never completed, until just recently. What little girl would not be excited at the prospect of becoming a princess and spending the night in her very own castle?

You could be one of the lucky guests who will be handed a scroll, which will invite you to a special gala ball. Or, you may be handed a “Golden Fastpass”, a special pass to use on the Fastpass rides, which will last for the whole day! You could even be sitting on the updated Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Magic Kingdom, when suddenly there will be a couple of pirates sitting right behind you.

How would you fancy having Magic Kingdom to yourself for a couple of hours? This too will be a dream come true for one family during the Year of a Million Dreams. The winning family will be given VIP treatment and the Keys to the Magic Kingdom, as they walk down Main Street USA on a red carpet, with cast members and all the Disney Characters lining the route.

The afternoon parade is being changed from The Share a Dream Come True parade to the Disney Dreams Come True Parade. There is a rumour that there may be a morning parade featuring guest interaction.

During the year there will be a couple of new attractions including “Finding Nemo..…the Musical” at Animal Kingdom, due to open late 2006 and also “The Seas with Nemo & Friends” at Epcot. Guests will board “clam-mobiles” to search for the missing Nemo.

So, for a chance to become one of the million lucky guests during Disney’s year long “Where Wishes Come True” celebration, you only have to be there and keep your fingers crossed, and maybe a sprinkling of pixie dust wouldn’t go amiss either! Good Luck!
