After the Parks the most important thing to the visitor to Orlando is food. Whatever your budget or whether your preference is steak or seafood you won’t have to look far to find something to fill your needs.
One eatery not to dismiss or overlook during your visit is Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney. You’ve seen it on the glitzy entertainment shows, know who owns it and think you may know all about it. Perhaps you didn’t know though that for the measly price of $10 you can get a Planet Hollywood VIP pass. On a busy Saturday night having spent all day queuing at the Parks for the rides the weary traveller is again queued, this time the length of the canopied stairway just waiting to get in the restaurant. This magic VIP ticket sees you take the freeway; ‘fastpass’ the waiting hordes and regain an hour of your life to enjoy by the pool later. Just check-in at the outdoor reception desk and your party get to glide swiftly up the entrance stairway like A-list celebs.
Once inside, while you wait to be seated, you can grab a drink from the bar and mingle with other awestruck diners, spotting memorabilia from your favourite films. The choice of food is traditional US fare - steaks, burgers, assorted pasta dishes and club sandwiches. There’s also a good range of food on the separate ‘nugget-free’ kid’s menu. The quality of the food is above average and portions are as you would expect in the US. The cost is surprisingly reasonable with burger meals starting at $8. 95 and steaks at $16. 95.
