Beyond Queenstown in the Queenstown-Lakes District are the Lakes Hawera and Wanaka and the smaller towns of Arrowtown, Glenorchy, Kingston, Wanaka, Alexandra and Cromwell. The following activities are also found in the region:
- Ben Lomond - a nearby mountain with easy access for a fantastic view of the town and Lake
- The Skyline Gondola from the town centre is the easy way up to Bob' s peak and Ben Lomond
- The Queenstown trail is open to walkers/runners and mountain biking
- Tramping in nearby Glenorchy or the famous Routeburn track
- Skippers Canyon and the Shotover river
- Scuba diving or snorkelling
- Milford Road, Milford Sound/Homer tunnel, the Fiordland lakes and Doubtful Sound.
Access to Queenstown is plentiful. Many Tourists enter New Zealand at either Auckland or Christchurch and hire a campervan for 2-4weeks. Schedule busses operate but more often the busses are package tours. Queenstown airport is located only 8km from the town with scheduled flights from Auckland, Christchurch Rotorua, Wellington, Sydney. Melbourne and Brisbane.

The activities are endless, buggy jump, jet-boat ride, skydive, hike or walk around Queenstown gardens, You can always shop or stop for a coffee or a cocktail among the many downtown cafe, bars and restaurants.
The Autumn officially begins between 1st March until 31st May. Average temperatures between 12-25 degrees Celsius. The days are usually clear and settled with cool evenings. The landscape bursts into a scene red and gold providing a perfect backdrop for your holidays.
The region is warm enough to enjoy the great outdoors while in the cooler evenings enjoy a glass of pinot noir by the fire-place. This is also a great period for wine tasting as more than 6, 000 tonnes of grapes are harvested from over 200 Vine yards.
