A visit to Aquatica
The newest park in Orlando at the moment is Aquatica, this as the name suggests is a water park and it is part of the Company that owns Busch Gardens and Sea World, in fact, the entrance is just opposite to the Sea World entrance.
When we were in Florida, the park was newly opened and was filling very early in the day, so we found that if they had closed the gates because of capacity, they re-opened them at 3pm when the early goers had gone back home, actually, I preferred going in at that time, less crowds, you could get a seat to base yourself and less hassle on the various water chutes etc.
There is a fantastic beach there by a lagoon where you can swim or just laze in the sun. The lazy river, my youngest son’s favourite, is really warm and quite fast flowing, the park provides life jackets for youngsters and you just lie there and get carried around in the current. Good for several hours of relaxation.
As you are floating around the lazy river, try to get yourself over to the walls were the circulation outlets are to get an extra push around the circuit, also if you are used to it, get the right side of the islands for a super push in the current.
Try the water slide which is six or eight slides wide, you start in an enclosed area and as soon as you come out of that you are immediately into a big drop, makes the heart beat a little faster and for the kids, a huge construction that has waterfalls, water cannons, smaller water slides and very, very cold water. This area has barrels that slowly fill with water eventually to tip over and cascade over all who stand below, it’s freezing and you have to go back into the lazy river to warm back up.
Parking is easy with the car parking area being right close to the park entrance so there is no queuing for buses or the like and it is well laid out with clear colour coding and lane markings.
Altogether then, a good first time experience that makes us want to go again, good value for money, good food at the restaurants, a good day.
We will need to go back because we haven’t covered all of the park and perhaps I will write another report when we have.
