Animal Kingdom - A Great Day Out
Animal Kingdom is Disney’s fourth theme park in Orlando Florida, opened in 1998, and with 500 acres, it is Disney’s largest worldwide theme park and five times the size of the Magic Kingdom.
Home to hundreds of animals, Animal Kingdom’s gentle waterfalls and green lush gardens provide a natural habitat for its inhabitants and is home to many exotic birds, reptiles and mammals. The doors to Animal Kingdom open early in the morning to allow visitors a full day’s enjoyment with the animals, meeting the Disney characters, and enjoying the thrill packed rides.
Being an entertainment complex, Disney in true fashion, showcases recreations of natural and man-made landscapes which recall the lands of Thailand, India, and southern Africa, both the past and present.
The festival of the ‘Lion King,’ is a 30 minute Broadway style musical, is one of Disney’s finest. Cast members from all over the world from as far as Kenya and South Africa are represented within the park. Get your seats early to truly enjoy the fantastic costumes and presentations of this musical. It’s an excellent show you won’t want to miss.
From the ‘Tree of Life’ in the middle of Discovery Island, other lands, each with their own special personality, emerge. The entrance is the Oasis and DinoLand U.S.A. is to its right. Asia is located to its northeast, and Africa to the North. To the west is Camp Minnie-Mickey, a show area for character greetings and where you can get the character’s autographs.
You’ll get a thrill from the ‘Kilimanjaro Safaris’ expeditions where giraffes, elephants, rhinos and lions roam the lands and rivers.
Visit the amazing 3D presentation of ‘It’s Tough to be a Bug,’ a hilarious and amusing stage show bursting with laughs.
Raft down the Kali River Rapids on the turbulent waters of the Chakranadi River aboard a 12 passenger raft but be prepared to get wet!
Go back in time to primeval times for a wild ride on the ‘Dinosaur’ expedition to save a stray dinosaur. It’s fast and favourite!
Don’t miss Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade, a musical street party through Africa, Discovery Island and Asia. It’s a high energy celebration starring Rafiki, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald and Goofy and over 60 of the cast members.
The park is open between 9:00 am and 5:00pm, but it is best to arrive early in the morning when many of the animals will be active and ready for your arrival!
