Florida Guide > Sea World
Baby sealion at Seaworld.
I have a birth announcement to make; no not me, but Fable!
So who is she, I hear you ask? Well Fable is a sea lion at Seaworld and she has just given birth to pups born 6 hours apart. This happened on june 17th.
Now if you know anything about sea lions you will be aware that they normally only give birth to a single baby so the birth of twins has caused a wave of excitement at the park and in the animal world in general.
The young have not been sexed yet, so by that token they also have not been named. They will nurse from their mother til they are anywhere from 6 months to a year old.
One interesting fact about sea lions is that they do not have a timed gestation but rather hold back on giving birth until the conditions are ideal.
If you love sea lions then Seaworld have a most interesting add on option for you. This is a walking tour that takes approximately one hour and tells you all you wanted to know about these comical little creatures.
The highlight is feeding time when you will get to feed the sea lions with buckets of fish. This happens at Pacific Point Preserve.
The cost of this is $20 for children and $40 for adults.
Pacific Point Preserve is a good place to look out for sea lion pups and for sure I will be looking out for Fables young when we next go.
Seaworld has always been one of my favourite parks and I feel it is often overlooked in favour of its' other brasher neighbours. It has grown exponentially since our first visit and now features many good rides along with the many varieties of sea creatures.
Seaworld is located on Central Florida Parkway twixt Sea Harbor Drive and International Drive.
The best way to buy your Seaworld tickets is from Orlando Park Tickets and here is a link http://www. orlandovillas. com/tickets. aspx
It is possible to buy from them when you are over in Florida but the best way is to buy is in advance and save a lot of time queueing. When you visit this site you will see that you can get tickets for most of the attractions in the area in one go. This also helps with spreading the costs out.
