Blizzard Beach Part 1
Blizzard beach was the second Disney water park that we visited, our first was Typhoon lagoon and that was great and so we just had to check out Blizzard Beach and the famous summit plummet that we had all heard so much about
At entrance of Blizzard Beach you begin to notice the very distinctive alpine feel to the place. Just like Typhoon Lagoon the attention to detail including the alpine music playing in the background and the styling of all the shops and building is very Alpine with lots of false snow everywhere
One the first things we did was rent a locker for all our clothes and any items of value you can also buy one of the insulated Disney mugs which are great for keeping the fizzy drinks cool , or if you have bought one from another park you can take them into any other Disney park and all you need to do is buy a bar code that you stick to your cup this allows you to get free refills all day long , if like us you have a couple of thirsty kids this can save you a considerable amount of money in the park
After finding a suitable spot to call base we set of on the Cross Country Creek which is where you jump on a big inner tube and float all the way around the park, it’s a great way to get around the park or just to relax and take in some sun, that’s if you can avoid your kids pushing you into every little waterfall or similar water spout!
Our first ride was Runoff Rapids which is another tube ride, there is a choice of 3 tubes which can all be ridden singly or the centre tube can be ridden by two people in a twin tube, which is great if your kids are a little bit young and maybe a bit wary. All 3 are great fun and we had lots of rides on them before moving on
Next was the Toboggan Racers these were great also fun, you have to lay on your stomach on a foam mat and race down the side of the mountain against 7 other people. This is great if you have kids or even other family with you as lets face it the kids always want to beat dad
Located close by is the Snow Stormers which again are on a mat which you lay on you stomach and race against 2 of your friends each of you take a different route which twists and turns down the side of mount gushmore in typical slalom style
Then we moved on to Double Dipper these are 2 huge tube slides on which you race against an opponent but most importantly against the clock as well, as you hit the pool at the bottom of the ride your time is displayed for all to see, they are very fast and you can get up to speeds of 20 miles an hour!
