BREAKFAST AT GOLDEN CORRAL
Everyone knows about Disney and Orlando, but I would be surprised if most people did not know something about the famous American buffet breakfasts, which are available all over the area. If you visit Orlando you cannot miss the numerous ‘eat all you like’ breakfast buffets. They are legendary, and for good reason - huge amounts of freshly cooked food at an unbelievable price.
I think hardly anyone who visits Orlando is not tempted to try this unique experience. But one of the best has to be Golden Corral. Their buffet is simply huge, and you could spend a serious two hours simply tasting all that is on offer. Their motto is ‘Everyone deserves a good meal,’ and you will certainly come away from this very economical eatery feeling thoroughly full.
You cannot miss Golden Corral, with its huge sign outside. Once inside you will pay for your meal and be given a tray and cutlery. You will then be shown to your table where your server will greet you cheerfully, and offer you plates, before you make your first of many visits to the buffet. There are usually several ‘food stations’ including an omelette and egg station, where you can order a specially prepared omelette filled with a variety of ‘fixings’. There are mushrooms and peppers, ham, bacon, onion and cheese, and that’s just for starters. The omelette will be expertly made and turned out onto your plate, piping hot. If you prefer a fried egg then order as many as you like, sunny side up (with a very soft yolk) or over easy (with the egg flipped to lightly cook the yolk, whilst maintaining its softness).
From here you will take your plate to the hot station, where a stunning array of breakfast items awaits you including bacon, sausages, hash browns, corned beef hash, French toast, freshly made waffles and pancakes. You can fill your plate or save yourself for a refill later.
If you enjoy fruit then there is freshly sliced melon, as well as other fruit, and there is usually a salad bar. The bakery produces fresh rolls and cakes, as well as mouth watering cookies. There is even ice cream with various sprinkles. Beverages are swiftly refilled, and you can order various juices if you prefer that to tea or coffee.
Should you wish to replenish your plate you will be asked to use a clean one each time. Your server will leave a pile of clean plates on your table so you can leave your dirty plate for him to remove and take a clean plate and start all over again.
It is a huge meal, and excellent value. But I doubt if you will find you can eat it every day of your stay!
