Chalet Suzanne:Floridas secret fine dining experience.
Chalet Suzanne is situated north of Lake Wales on Chalet Suzanne Drive (If you know where Eagle Ridge Mall is you can find it easily)
Lets start with breakfast; this costs only $18 which is remarkable value when you consider the quality of the food and the wonderful location.
There are 2 choices on the menu:
Option one is fresh grapefruit or fruit juice followed by Eggs Benedict. For those of you that have not tried this delectable dish it is a poached egg and ham served on puff pasry and blanketed with hollandaise sauce ; a truly most indulgent dish.
Option 2 is the creamiest ever scrambled eggs served with pancakes with lingon berries and ham, bacon or sausage patties.
Either way you can choose from Coffee, hot chocolate, milk or tea to wash it all down with.
I guarantee that a Chalet Suzanne breakfast sets you up for the rest of the day!
Too late for breakfast? Not to worry, you are in time for lunch. 3 soups priced from $8 to $10, then 6 salads from $8 to $18 or several mains from $17 to $42. My choice would the Romaine Soup, Meditteranean Seafood Salad and Lamb Noisettes. It is most unusual to be offered lamb to eat in Florida so this is a treat.
Dinner time brings other fresh delights, so why not try their traditional menu?
Start with a broiled grapefruit, swiftly followed by Soup Romaine. Next comes a Caeser Salad and then you have the difficult choice between Chicken Suzanne, Grilled Buffalo and Herb Butter Lump Crab. Finally the choice of one of the scrumptious desserts (will you have room; of course you will) Depending on your main course choice, this menu costs $59 to $70 each. This is most reasonable for such a treat for the senses.
Always leave space for a pudding - my choice would be the moist and scrumptious carrot cake. Also on the menu is a chocolate cheesecake, rum cream pie (my second choice) cherries romanoff and chocolate cream pie. Individually these puds cost $6. 25 to $7. 25.
Needless to say there is a carefully chosen wine list and a glass of wine costs $8 to $12 a glass.
Chalet Suzanne often hold special events and that could be a wine tasting, or breakfast celebration or charity event so keep an eye on their website to see if you can join in on one of those.
