Coral Reef Restaurant - Epcot
The Coral Reef restaurant is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner when you visit Epcot. To get to the Coral Reef you exit The Living Seas and walk to the far right of the pavilion. The pavilion features a unique dining experience and you can dine in front of windows 50 feet long and eight feet high, allowing you to view a Caribbean coral reef. The seating is great as it is terraced for optimum viewing. However if you want a really good view of the fish you are best to request a seat near the windows although this may involve a bit of a wait. We did this and were told the wait would be thirty minutes which we did not mind as we were not in any hurry.
Many families dine here with small children as the full wall aquarium is entertainment in itself and there is a good children' s menu. However they are asked to be considerate of those dining close to the aquarium and try not to crowd them while they dine.
You will see Brown Shark, Cow-nose Ray, Green Sea Turtle, Tarpon, and Grouper and the restaurant is beautifully decorated in a variety of blue-shaded tiles.
Last time we went we decided to go for an early dinner and the service was very good.
My parents began their meal with an appetizer for two: it had grilled shrimp with cucumber salad, BBQ Beef Skewer with creamy polenta and a small cup of the lobster bisque soup. This they said was delicious and worth every penny of the $17 they paid for it. I opted for the Shrimp and Lobster Cake this was served with a gorgeous Napa cabbage slaw with a sweet and spicy vinaigrette.
For my entrée I had the pan seared grouper with wild mushroom and scallop risotto. It was cooked perfectly and came with a wonderful broth. My Father had the roasted Scottish salmon with leek fondue in red wine. The salmon is served on the rare side, I would not have enjoyed this but my Father loved it like this. My Mother chose Apricot-braised Beef Short Rib she said she did not fancy fish after watching them all swimming around! This came with crushed Yukon Gold potatoes, snap peas, sweet peppers, and barbecue glaze which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Mother and I had made sure to leave room for dessert as they looked delicious. We both had the Chocolate Wave. This was a warm chocolate cake with a liquor center served with whipped cream & fresh raspberries it really was good. Father finished his meal with a Baileys and coffee.
A very enjoyable meal, we will return again.
