Cruising – What to do on a Sea Day Part 2
So there you are on your first cruise. You have passed a relaxing morning at sea and the afternoon stretches out in front of you. Lunch is over and perhaps its time to sit and sunbathe, or take a dip in one of the pools. As you lie back on your sun lounger, a friendly steward will take your order for your favourite tipple of the day. Will it be one of the special daily cocktails or just something long and cool?
Your ship may have a climbing wall or an ice skating rink to burn off all those extra calories, or perhaps you feel like finding out more about your next port at a talk in one of the theatres. Or is it time for a little retail therapy? There is perfume to sample, jewellery and watches to try on, and gifts to choose to take back for friends and family. There may even be a special sale going on in the atrium to tempt you to spend your dollars. There could be an art auction, and in various locations you will find a huge variety of music to suit all tastes – maybe a pianist is playing in the atrium, or a singer is crooning in one of the many bars. And there may be another quiz – but that best seller you picked up this morning is beckoning you to finish the chapter, so will you go back to your balcony or sit up on the deck? There are several pools to choose from and maybe a flume, so perhaps its time to get your swimming costume on.
Can it really be time for tea already? Will you go down to the dining room to be pampered and waited upon, with trays of delicate sandwiches, freshly bakes scones and dainty cakes to tempt you with? It’s like being back in the days when transatlantic liners made their way across the Atlantic, and life was slow. This really is the way to wind down after all the excitement of Orlando. Of course, you may prefer to visit the buffet again, freshly re-stocked with delicious teatime delicacies.
Tomorrow is a new port, so there are excursions to book and questions to ask at the Excursion desk, and what about the photos that were taken yesterday when you boarded the ship, are they ready to view in the photo gallery?
But it will soon be time to get ready for dinner. It’s a formal night, and the Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party so you need to make preparations. Maybe a final look at the sea and a quick walk round the deck before you return to your stateroom?
