Dinosaur World
Are you looking for something different and affordable to do with the kids? Why not combine a trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa with a stop at Dinosaur World. Step back a million years and enter Dinosaur World – a must for Dinosaur fans of all ages. Entry is only $12. 75 for adults and $9. 75 for children making it a very affordable alternative day or half day out. The park is open 9. 00am until 6. 00pm year round, except for December and January when is closes at 5. 00pm, so pack up a picnic and go exploring!
Near Tampa in Plant City, Dinosaur World is located just of Exit 17 (Plant City) of the Interstate 4 motorway. Journey time from the Orlando area is 45 Minutes to 1 hour. Dinosaur World is a relaxed park for young explorers with no big rides, just simple, educational fun.
Come face to face with around 150 life size Dinosaurs as you wander through Dinosaur Forest and learn about the different species as you go with the informative descriptions. Some of the stars include Brachiosaurus (sometimes better known as ‘long-neck), a plant eating giant, Chasmosaurus, a multi horned plant eater, Dilophasaurus a lizard like beast, Spinosaurus, a spiny meat eater, Stygimoloch, Triceratops, and of course, not forgetting Tyrannosaurus Rex – don’t forget your camera!
For budding paleontologists, the fossil dig is a must. Children age 3-12 can sift through sand in search for all sorts of treasures including shark teeth, amber, fossils, sea urchins and bone fragments. There is an extra charge for this activity.
There is also an area called the Bone Yard, a sandy area for digging and exploring, and The Skeleton Garden exhibiting life size dinosaur skeletons.
Take a stroll through the dinosaur museum with exhibits such as dinosaur eggs and raptor claws, and lots of new and interesting things to learn.
The Caves play host to a video theatre, displays and also a picnic area in a unique atmosphere. There is also a small play ground and gift shop for your souvenirs.
Please note there are no restaurants at Dinosaur World, but there is a good choice of fast food or sit down restaurants nearby, and you are allowed to take purchases from restaurants into the park. There are also picnic areas at the park if you take a picnic, and be sure to take plenty of drinks in with you.
Dinosaur World accepts all major credit cards and parking is free.
