Dolpin Cruise: Spongerama.
DOLPHIN CRUISE
Spongeramas Cruise Lines are located at The Sponge Docks and here you can pick up a Dolphin Cruise.
The boat takes you to Anclote Park on the Gulf of Mexico. Cruising down The Anclote River you will enjoy a view of the Anclote lighthouse that was built in 1887.
Of course you are here to see the dolphins and your captain will point them out while giving a running commentary on the area. You may also see some manatees.
There are snacks a drinks available on board and if you are anything like me you will be relieved to know that there are loos on board.
If you have a little more time to spare you could tale a combo cruise that includes a stop on Anclote Island. Here you can swim, explore or just enjoy chilling out in this peaceful place.
The Dolpin Cruise is $15. 95 and the combo cruise is $18. 95. Children are at trhe concession rate of $7. 95 and $9. 95 respectively.
I have a particular weakness to sunset cruises and I am pleased to tell you that Spongerama Cruise Lines offer one. The sunsets on The Gulf Coast are spectacular and there is no better way to see them than from a catamaran.
You must book the sunset cruises in advance and they are only available on weekends. The cost is $21. 95 per person with children being charged $9. 95.

You will be buying your cruise ticket from Spongeramas Sponge Factory so make a point of visiting this attraction either before or after your cruise.
First stop will be a welcome sit down in the air conditioned theatre to see a fascinating showing of a film that tells you all about the sponge. Then on to the Sponge Museum for a tour and then lets shop.
You can buy jewellry, olive oil cosmetics, art work and gifts here but obviously the main attraction are the sponges. The have here the Worlds largest selection of sponges to choose from and I would definitely recommend the varity known an the wool sponge. These are by far the most expensive but they are silky soft and can last up to 10 years.
One thing I was not aware of is that the sponge traps very little bacteria so is by far the best choice for your bathroom and a lasting memento of your visit to this charming town.
There is no fee to entrance Spongerama and no fee for the cinema or museum. And I have another ' Free' for you; There is no charge for parking either.
