Englewood Beach
Just minutes from Rotonda, the beaches of Englewood offer the best beaches we have seen during our Florida trips. First time visitors to the west coast meant that we would be spending time relaxing and soaking up some of the warm Florida sun.
Our twins, Joshua and Jake thought it was a fantastic idea that we spent a week at the beach during our three week trip to Florida. Instead of spending the whole time in our own home, we decided to rent on of the fabulous villas available.
Parking was easy, Pay and Display, 75c per hour, right on the beach front. So we took our deck chairs, buckets and spades, umbrella and plenty of cold drinks and not forgetting the sun screen of course.
After parking up, we walked on the boardwalk and found a suitable place for the day and set up camp. The boys didn’t waste any time in getting to work with their buckets and spades. Although the sand was so fine and dry that it was almost impossible for them to build a castle in the sand.
With the sea only being around 30 metres away, it was ideal for the boys to go for a paddle and bring back some water to help them with their creations in the sand. The gentle breeze off the sea really helped take the heat out of the sun during the afternoon.
The shore line was just so beautiful, lined with sea shells as far as the eye can see. The sea just lapping the shore every now and then. It was just wonderful. Be warned though, the sand gets really hot, so hot in fact that it is near on impossible to walk on bare foot. The boys had their Crocs on which was ideal especially when they were in and out of the water all the time.
The boardwalk ran for a good length of the beach, making it easy to access your car, take a walk without getting sand in your shoes and also access to the rest rooms. They also had wash stations too so you could wash the sand off your feet before returning home which was just ideal. There’s a nice children’s playground too, giving the kids the last few minutes to play before you head off back home for the evening.
Very popular during the daytime but not over crowded, and a great place to take a relaxing evening stroll and watch the fabulous sunset as it sets over the open sea. Exceptionally clean beach with easy access and good facilities.
