Florida for us in March 2009
Florida as usual never fails to surprise and delight us in its changes and new acquisitions.
On our ‘treasure hunt’ this year we found new shopping malls, restaurants and more delights in Downtown Disney.
We are based just off Highway 27 which seems to be the up and coming place to be, traveling south on the 27 just over the I4 we come to Posner Park a new development of shops and restaurants, here you can find J C Penney’s, Target, Best Buy and lots more, but of course before you quite reach Posner Park there is the very popular and excellent value for money restaurant – Applebees at Barry Town Centre, if you travel north towards Clermont, again there are new shops and restaurants too many to remember, but a favourite which has been there for some time is Kohls, great value and lots to see, designer clothes at great prices. Quite close to Cagans Crossing on Highway 27 is a new Irish Pub and Restaurant – Devenney’s, here you can sing along to the Karaoke or just relax and have a nice meal, great pub atmosphere. There is also a new McDonalds.
Coming off Highway 27 and traveling east on the 192 for about three and half miles you will come to Rolling Oaks Boulevard, here you will find a new Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant, which hopefully opened at the end of March, unfortunately just after we left, this has to be one of the best steak houses in and around Orlando, opposite is a new Olive Garden Restaurant and right behind both of them is a new Target Superstore, more bargains to be had.
It looks as though there is going to be a lot of development on the 192 and Highway 27 – so much to look forward to.
We took advantage of booking in our luggage at Downtown Disney on our last day, such a great thing to do, it makes your last day and traveling home so much easier. Taking a stroll through Downtown Disney we came upon the latest café – T-Rex Café, it is next to the Lego Store and unlike the Rainforest Café which is a fabulous dining experience, at the T-Rex Café the children can make their own dinosaur, it houses a huge T-Rex at the entrance, there is the café to the left and the gift shop to the right, at the back of the gift shop here the children can let their imaginations run riot and make a dinosaur - great fun.
Our grandchildren are coming with us again next time, and we will re-do the Theme Parks, can’t wait to see the changes that will have been made their.
