Florida Adventure Tour
If you want a day away from the parks and do not mind an early start then try
the Florida Adventure Tour.
This all day adventure will allow you to see manatees in the river and the
opportunity to snorkel with them PLUS a visit to an animal preserve - The
Homosassa Springs State Wild Life park to see the indigenous Florida wildlife
such as Florida Panthers Bobcats and a host of others that have found their way
into the sanctuary by some means or other PLUS an airboat ride with breakfast
and lunch throw in.
The day starts with you being picked up at one of several collection points
either from along us 192 between mile markers 4- 9 or at designated points in
Down town Disney, International drive or Pointe Orlando. Breakfast is taken in
SIZZLERS, but this may change - and then you start the journey to Crystal
River where you are taken on a 2 hour cruise to see the manatees in the clear
waters. The tour operators provide snorkelling equipment so if you want to get
closer to these animals all you need take is a towel and a swimming costume.
The picnic lunch is taken overlooking Kings Bay part of the river system and
a favourite place of snorkelers
Then its time to visit the wildlife centre The park provides habitat and
shelter for animals that may not make it in the wild such as: a hippo,
alligators, manatees, bobcats, deer, a black bear, bobcats, a cougar, and birds
of prey. A very pleasant way to walk off lunch and view Florida wildlife.
The third and final part of the day experience is an airboat ride on the
Withlacochee River which lasts for 45 minutes. Even if you don’t get to see any
alligators then the exhilaration of simply being on an airboat is not to be
missed. The tour is fully narrated.
Passengers are advised that they will be in a river environment and it may
well be worth taking along some insect repellent and suntan lotion oh and of
course your camera an underwater one might not go amiss as well if you have one.
