Golf in Orlando Florida.
Being one of the top golfing destinations Florida is home to some of the best golf courses in the world, and with year round sunshine it's no wonder that some of the leading golfers have homes here. To name just a few Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, the list goes on......
There are over 150 courses within 45 minutes drive of downtown so plenty to choose from and prices in Orlando are extremely reasonable, discounts are often available on twilight golf and many golfers prefer this time as temperatures are beginning to cool down. Carts are often included and refreshments offered so why not pack those clubs and bring them along the next time you visit.
With so many to choose from below is just a small selection....
Celebration
The golf course at Celebration was designed by Robert Trent Jones and Robert Trent Jones Jr. It offers a wonderful golfing experience. It is advisable to book in advance as availability and green fees depend on the time of year. It is player friendly for all levels of golfers and is listed in PGA'S magazine as junior friendly and from the back and middle tees presents a fine challenge for the more experienced golfer.
Disney has no less than five championship courses:
- Osprey Ridge Designed by Tom Fazio and recognised by Golf magazine as truly spectacular and one of the best courses in Florida.
- Eagle pines Designed by Pete Dye
- Lake Buena Vista Designed by Joe Lee, exciting and challenging and yet fun to play.
- Palm Another Joe Lee masterpiece and offers plenty of challenges for the novice and seasoned pro alike, also played each year as part of the PGA tour Funai classic.
- Magnolia Home to the final of the PGA tour Funai classic, designed by Joe Lee.
Champions Gate
Champion’s gate golf course was designed by Greg Norman and is the home of the world famous David leadbetter Golf Academy. The complex offers two championship golf courses and extensive practice facilities including putting and chipping greens, practice bunkers and a practice range.
Rates of play and availability depend on the time of day and time of year, you are able to book by telephone and a credit card will reserve you a tee time.
Legends at Orange Lake
The Arnold Palmer design ‘legends’ at Orange Lake is situated at orange lake golf and country club on the 192(irlo Bronson memorial highway)
You drive through the resort to the east wing where the clubhouse is situated. The clubhouse is impressing in itself with a well-stocked pro shop offering all the top brand golf equipment through to golfing clinics and personal tuition.
Falcons Fire
Falcons fire is Rees Jones signature design masterpiece, recognised as one of Orland’s finest courses, a links style course with extensive perimeter mounding and water coming into play on nine of the eighteen holes.
Like I say there is an abundance of fantastic courses available to you and I am sure that you will come away with your own favourite.
