"Honey I Shrunk the Audience" at Epcot
This really is a great family show, if you have never seen this show before then I am sure that you will like it, it is one of our favourites we visit it year after year.
Its is one of the 3D cinema type shows that are so good at Disney not like the old 3D movies we used to occasionally get on the TV at home when we were kids, this is the real stuff and its great!
This is one of those shows that there never seems to have a big waiting time for, plus you wait inside so it can make a welcome rest if its too hot outside or maybe even raining. Once inside you are informed that this is to be a demonstration of a new invention and an award ceremony.
You sit in the theatre with the 3D glasses that you collected whilst waiting for the show, soon the show begins and those of you familiar with the film “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” will know all the characters and have an idea of how the plot works out.
The professor’s family is introduced to us as we wait for him to appear, it’s not long before he turns up chasing a small cartoon character that appears in all sorts of places using the 3D, you can often see the kids reaching out and trying to grab him as he looks so close.
One of the devices is a method of copying any items and replicating them, its soon demonstrated by the professors son who accidentally replicates 100’s of mice that escape into the theatre etc. , the effects are really good as at one point it feels at if all the mice are running around at the back of your legs I wont give it all away but it’s a cool effect
Of course the miniaturisation device is brought into use but unlike the film this time the audience get shrunk and soon we discover what its like to be very small compared to the dog and the other members of the cast, be warned you will get a little wet in this scene, but rest assured the professor manages to return us all back to a normal size.
The whole show is really great fun! the whole 3D experience is so very good plus there are some great effects built into the theatre and in particular the seating area, it has a very similar feel to the Muppet 3D in Hollywood Studios and the kids simply love it
Good simple fun for the whole family.
