Innoventions West at Epcot
If you enter Epcot via the main entrance, rather than the ‘back door’ – the entrance from Disney’s Boardwalk which lies between England and France – then the first thing that catches most peoples eye is the huge silver globe that houses the recently refurbished Spaceship Earth. As you pass beyond this you then enter a large plaza which is dominated by the Epcot Fountain, a wonderful sight especially when lit at night.
It is probably here that many people will determine which way they will head next. Will it be to head west to The Land to experience Soarin’ or take the Behind the Seeds Tour? Maybe to The Seas and visit Crush the talking Turtle or experience the Nemo ride. Alternatively you may head east to check out Test Track, Mission Space or Ellen’s Energy . If either of these is your choice then you will almost certainly pass between the crescent shaped pavilions that house Innoventions East and West, maybe without even realising what you are passing.
A detour through the doors of the Innoventions Pavilions will probably amaze you and almost certainly delight you whether you have children with you or not.
Innoventions West houses the following attractions:-
The Great Piggy Bank Adventure;
the games here, while designed to teach youngsters the importance of planning and saving for the future are entertaining enough to keep adults amused, and maybe teach them something also.
Rockin’ Robots;
where you can make music by controlling robotic arms via touch screens.
Where’s The Fire;
An interactive game house where teams search for fire hazards in the home using special flashlights. In the Play it Safe Maze children learn how to exit there home in case of fire. You can also take photos of your family next to a 30 foot fire truck. This is the largest Fire Prevention exhibit in the USA and is even reported to be responsible for a young visitor being able to use what she had leant to get her friends out of a house fire. Well worth the visit!
Segway Central;
The meeting point for guests who have booked the Segway Experience. This is where you get kitted out and are taught the basics of how to control your Segway before heading out into the public areas within Epcot. Visitors to Innoventions can watch riders in the practice area. I know for certain that I figure on many home videos!
What’s Your Problem?
Enter the Slapstick Studio and be entertained and amused as members of the audience tackle everyday problems that can be solved using ‘hook and loop’ technology – Velcro to you and I!
