International Drive - Part 3 - Pointe Orlando Center
Pointe Orlando is a shopping and night club complex on International Drive which also houses a huge Imax multi-screen cinema in which the largest screen cinema has a giant screen several stories high included which usually shows the most popular film of the day.
Pointe Orlando is set in beautiful surroundings of palms and other evergreen tropical plants around lakes and fountains. There are places all around where you can just sit on a bench and watch the world go by. It even has an art gallery which displays some very fine paintings.
It does has shops such as A/X Armani Exchange, Tommy Hilfiger Clearance Store, Bath and Body Works, Sunglasses Hut, Brighton Collectables, Tharoo & Co quality jewellers and Synergy to name but a few. There are quite a lot of good ladies clothing shops such as Charming Charlie, Tropical Clothiers and Tommy Bahama’s which has ladies and mens clothing as well as a good range of swimwear. Next door to this is Tommy Bahama’s restaurant which is fine dining. It is approached from International Drive into Pointe Orlando in a sweeping curve where the valet parking is free. There is a matre de waiting to greet you as you arrive. He will take your keys, park your car and return it to you when you are ready to leave. There is an outside patio for al fresco dining on warm evenings if you prefer. They have a tropical designed menu including a good selection of cocktails.
For eating there is Pizzaria Valdiano, which sells pizza slices and drinks and a Johnny Rockets Diner which is a based on the old fashioned diners of the 50’s. There are red stools all round the cooking and serving area and booths with a juke box on every table. The food is all of the period too, burgers, fries, hot dogs, shakes, colas and coffees. Sit back and enjoy your food while listening to all the hits of the 50’s and 60’s. There is a pub at the entrance to Pointe Orlando serving food and drinks and outside the complex there is Copper Canyon Grill.
For fine dining there as a very upmarket italian restaurant called Maggiano’s at one end of Pointe Orlando with Tommy Bahama’s restaurant and bar at the other.
On the upper level are the clubs, Hooters being the most well known and BB Kings Blues Club.
This is a very lively place to visit in the evening if you want to do something different from theme parks.
